FC Heidenheim 1846 e.V. is a German football club that originated from the gymnastics club Turngemeinde Heidenheim, founded on August 14, 1846. The football department was established on July 8, 1890, and became an independent VfR Heidenheim on August 21, 1922. After multiple mergers and changes, on May 27, 1972, TSB 1846 Heidenheim and VfL Heidenheim merged to form Heidenheimer SB. In 2007, the football department separated from Heidenheimer SB and established the independent Heidenheimer Football Club.
